Nutella-covered Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies/Cookie Pie
We got a new oven because the last one was really shitty, so of course I had to find a way to use it right away. Hence, cookies. “But wait! Chocolate chip cookies are good, but they’re boring…what can I do to awesome them up?” BAM, cinnamon. BAM, Nutella. Instant win.
The cookie pie was…a result of not having enough cookie sheet space. Yeah, I wish I could say that I meant to do that. But there I was, with enough dough for 36 cookies, so into the pie pan it went.
I ain’t lying when I say these were the best cookies I’ve ever had. Housemates and friends - giving people cookies is how I make friends, no joke - also concur. The cinnamon and Nutella take them to a whole ‘nother level. To quote a certain Kazakh visitor to America, “VEREH NICE. GREAT SUCCESSSS.”
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups butter, melted
- 2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 325F. Toss together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the vanilla extract and egg yolks. Stir in the flour mixture until little liquid remains. Drop in the chocolate chips…and then go to work. Using your hands, mix until the chocolate chips are distributed evenly. For cookies, drop a 1 inch dollop of cookie dough at a time on ungreased cookie sheets. For cookie pie, just fill the pie pan with doughy goodness. Bake cookies for 15-17 minutes, cookie pie for a bit longer. Cool on baking sheets a few minutes before moving the cookies to plates or wire racks. Then hit them with jars of Nutella (yes, jars)!
